Phew, it's already this time again, time to wrap up another year. I have to say that 2013 was pretty successful for me, much more successful than previous years, anyway. I had my huge coming-of-age birthday of 18, passed many milestones that I've waited a long time for, and enjoyed a lengthy vacation in one of my favorite places on this planet (of which I am still on and enjoying). Here on DA, I want to personally thank everyone who added me to their watch list and commented/favorited my artwork, photos, and fanfictions. Sorry in advance if it takes me some time to reply to you. I recently went through 673 messages....in a day. Yeah.
Now, I must plan for the next year, two months early as is my custom. I took advantage of the recent DA promotion and purchased a one-year premium membership that was automatically doubled. With Photoshop CS6 and a Wacom Tablet as recent additions to my artist's tools, I hope to improve my skills as well as my professional standing as an artist and market my art better. Here is a rough outline of what my watchers can expect from me next year and the goals that I hope to accomplish:
Edward Elric cosplay: I have completed many cosplays over the past six years, for fun and for Halloween costumes, but to date, I do not have any that are suitable/professional enough to wear to a con. So, because I have learned a lot of sewing skills this year and how to better make things professionally, I've decided to create a completely new costume for my first con that I (tentatively) might be going to in April 2014. Cosplaying as Ed requires a lot of things and I want it to be as close to the original character's design as possible. So, I have to teach myself some new techniques for this one (such as for his automail), but I've already got it all planned out and I'm just waiting until January to start. I'm hoping you guys will look forward to seeing it, as I have several other cosplays I will be working on next year as well. Be on the lookout for teasers!
More Fullmetal Alchemist art: I seem to have found an audience with my FMA art and I have so many ideas flowing day in and day out for this series that I love, so I'll definitely be continuing with it.
Building and sharing my Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) headcanon: Another thing I have a lot of love for is Marvel's movie series right now, particularly Thor and Iron Man. I have to build my headcanon and introduce my main character for the MCU properly, and so I will be writing several fanfictions, starting with "A Bridge Between Worlds." As always, the first chapter ONLY of my stories will be posted to DeviantArt and I will link to the full story on my Fanfiction.net account.
Continuing with my photography:My photography has improved a lot this year with a very impressive Canon replacing my old Kodak camera. I have yet to find a photography club that's the right fit for me, but I will hopefully find an audience for my photography soon.
Interacting more with the DA community: I tend to create and work in a bubble. Which means I almost never join contests or talk with other people with like interests. I'm going to try to change that. Maybe I'll consider doing some Livestreams of my art processes next year too, if anyone's interested.
And last, but not least,
Opening commissions for the first time: I said that I would save this until my art skill progressed enough that I considered myself at least 'good'. It's now happened. As soon as I work out a pricing and offers list, I will post them to my front page ready for order. Look forward to it!
This is not a complete list of my projects for next year, and in addition to these goals, I also have many things that I am striving for in my life and on other sites. Which will equate to me being busy, very busy. But that's nothing new, and now that I am getting faster at turning out finished projects, I will be able to manage better.
That's it for now. Be safe and enjoy the holidays and the rest of 2013.
